J.P. Morgan's old plan management tool had been used since the 1990s; they needed a new, more powerful, efficient, and intuitive suite of products for resiliency plan management for regulatory and business reasons.
ERMA is a suite of tools built to manage resiliency planning and risk management activities. The tool provides a centralized platform for the bank to develop, implement, and monitor resiliency plans, enabling them to better protect their customers, employees, and assets, as well as stay compliant with all government regulations.
Forever affordable to scale
The most critical requirement was to create a design system for reporting and interacting with metrics that would be affordable to implement at scale.
Flexible analytics dashboard
The dashboard comprises 4 tabs designed for comprehensive resiliency planning and risk management. ERMA, by centralizing resiliency planning, significantly enhances the bank's ability to safeguard customers, employees, and assets while ensuring adherence to government regulations.
Widget-and-modal-based design system
Working with the Chase design system, I designed a modular widget and modal system that could be used anywhere within the reporting and analytics dashboards.
Modular widgets give users an overview of their important metrics and helped to streamline the development process, saving time and resources in the long run.
It was important to create templates for the widgets and modals early on so that development would be less costly, which meant making large, lasting decisions without very much information.
Differing stakeholder opinions and varying graph types led to four possible widget templates.
Modals for data refinement
Interactive modals enable users to visualize and refine data, with quick actions to export information, saving time on repetitive tasks.
As with the widgets, it was important to create templates for the modals early on so that development would be less costly.
Data Interaction

Outcomes
The widget and modal-based design of the dashboard is affordable for the bank to maintain and expand, while providing users with a comprehensive set of tools for analyzing data, allowing them to make informed decisions and manage resiliency planning and risk management activities effectively. My work on ERMA has made it cheaper and easier for the bank to stay up to date with regulatory requirements, ensure business continuity, and respond to crises.
