OneLab Reach is a training and e-learning platform for nurses and other healthcare professionals. The platform allows users to easily find resources, complete trainings, and manage recertification credits.
Context & Role
This project had two phases: Research and Design/Implementation. For phase one, using heuristic analysis, user testing sessions, and competitive analysis, I presented a Report Summary. This Report Summary included general explanations of metrics found and recommendations for the new website based on those metrics.
The CDC appreciated my quantitative approach to the Report Summary and agreed to move forward with my recommendations.
I was asked to design an e-learning website and webpage templates, and a flexible design system that would be used to expand the website in the future.
Design System
The client wanted to steer away from the typical government look and feel in order to differentiate this product from other purely informational CDC websites. I recommended a set of more saturated colors that were CDC brand adjacent, using tints and shades to provide more options while keeping the color palette tight.
Landing page
The landing page had to hit four key goals
Boost account sign-ups
Slash bounce rates
Drive users to featured courses
Remain adaptable for future content expansions.

My Learner Hub
Post-landing page, My Learner Hub is key for retention. While users can access courses freely, signing up unlocks all their relevant courses (required, in progress), and saved content in one spot. This serves as a compelling incentive for account creation, elevating user engagement beyond free course access.

Outcomes
The redesigned CDC Onelab Reach e-learning platform proved instrumental, empowering nurses and first responders with vital skills while efficiently managing organizational budgets.
Its engaging design served as a go-to resource for healthcare professionals, ensuring compliance with government-mandated course requirements.
The execution of this project and great communication were critical to building a strong relationship with the client, winning additional contracts with the CDC worth $9.2M.
After completion of the initial contract, I continued to work with the client, managing a team of two designers who were brought on to complete the new work.
